What is a Sitemap?

A sitemap is a collection of links on your website. It creates an index that helps Google and other search engines to find your content.

Why does Google need a sitemap of your site?

It doesn’t need it, but it is very helpful to Google. With your Joomla sitemap enabled, Google knows exactly what links/pages are on the site. And it’s all in one place, ordered and in a format that’s very SEO-friendly. Therefore, Google doesn’t have to transverse your entire site looking for pages.

What are the benefits of sitemaps?

The biggest benefit to a sitemap is that your content gets added to Google quickly. With our sitemap, it is able to add your new pages in hours or days rather than weeks or months.

Why is it free? What’s the catch?

There is no catch. We want you to use and love our sitemap generator. You’re free to use it on as many sites as you want. We make our money by selling some extra features (like caching) in the Pro version. But you have everything you need in the Free version to create a professional Joomla sitemap.

What are the Technical Requirements?

Joomla 3 and PHP 5.6+.

How can I install your sitemap generator?

Download the latest version of OSMap
Go to your Joomla administrator
Extensions -> Manage -> Install
Upload OSMap and click the Install button

How can I upgrade to the latest version?

We integrate with Joomla’s update manager. You can update from your admin area by going to Extensions -> Manage -> Update, select OSMap, and click the update button.

That’s it! Nice and easy.

Alternatively, upgrading manually is the same steps as installing and everything will automatically be upgraded for you.

Can I use your sitemap generator in commercial projects?

Yes, our sitemap generator is licensed under the GPL. So you can use it in personal and commercial project, including in your client projects.

Can I see a demo of the generated sitemaps?

Yes, we have a demo page for both the XML sitemap and the HTML sitemap.

Functionality

This is my go to for site maps, and I have been using it for several years. Meets all my needs.

Ease of use

Very easy to use, install it, and do some minor setup and you are good

Support

Support has been very responsive to any questions I have had, and resolved any problems quickly.

Documentation

I have not really look at the documentation as it's self explanatory.

I used this to: Site Maps on just about any site I am working on, the only times I have not used it is for existing sites that have came to me with something else already installed.

Functionality

Works perfectly as soon as it's installed. Multiple sitemaps are generated to maximize your SEO with Google.

Ease of use

A super easy component with straightforward flexible settings. As it generates the various sitemaps automatically, there's not much to do.

Support

Very good and responsive. There's also an active Facebook group if you have problems.

Documentation

I used this to: I've used OSMaps on Multiple websites for myself and clients for many years with no problems.

Functionality

Works as expected, provides a full site map of non-secure areas of my website.

Ease of use

Super easy to use, just include it as a menu link in your footer.

I used this to: OSMap generates a XML sitemap that I provide to the Google Search Console. I use this for my business (Create My Voice) website to make it easy for Google and other search engines to index my site.

Functionality

I've been a long-time OSMap user. Version 5.01 is now compatible with Joomla 4. I use it as HTML on my website and XML in Google and Bing.

Ease of use

Pretty easy to install and upgrade from OSMap 4. I exclude menus I don't want to see on my website. I index over 7,000 pages on my website.

Support

Alex was able to step me through a workaround to get pages with tags their own listing in the HTML. Support was next day via email.

Documentation

It's pretty intuitive. Each of the menu labels have its own explanation.

I used this to: I use the HTML version as a page on my website. I use the XML version in Google console and Bing webmaster tools.

Functionality

Only works for a few contents, almost all third party extensions are not integrated. Use it if you only need a simple sitemap or articles

Ease of use

It's very difficult to find a plugin for a third party component, no longer listed on this site, some are abandoned or not free

Support

Not used not needed. The extension worked as supposed to do but it's not what i expected

Documentation

It explains how it works. Honestly i hoped that it worked in a different way

I used this to: I aimed to use it for websites having other components installed and to be able to generate a sitemap for everything. A crawler sitemap was able to do this.

Owner's reply: Unfortunately, this reviewer is a spammer. They are involved with another Joomla sitemap. They regularly create fake accounts and leave these fake reviews. Do not believe this user.

I needed help with my install not because there was any issue with the component but with memory issues. This was resolved with help from JS
