Introduction

Multi Categorization

Allows you to publish Joomla! articles into multiple categories. Works for backend&frontend!
Full integration for article URL routing, breadcrums, blogs, page navigation, etc. + Preview Button in Article edit page!

FEATURES:

- Possibility to enable creating Canonical URLs for articles in multiple categories - for avoiding having duplicate content!

MULTICATEGORY BLOG - possibility to make a menu item of MultiCategory Blog - articles from multiple category selection. Possible to set if articles have to belong to ALL selected categories or at least ONE of them. Not available under J4 currently.

As a bonus, you will recieve an Article Preview button functionality in toolbar of Article edit form view!

Functionality

It does not work with J!4, the latest extension version is compatible with 4.3.4 - you discover this only after purchase :/

Ease of use

Earlier I used it successfully, it takes time to figure it out but manageable

Support

Non existent. 95% of support tickets are open and unanswered, you find it out only after you buy the extension

Documentation

It seemed to be OK, it was enough for the setup. No uninstallation instructions and my attempts broke the site, backup/restore helped

Value for money

The subscription is for 6 months, so double the price listed for yearly value. Since it is not updated, it is a waste of money.

I used this to: Assign articles for more categories. Workaround instead of using the component: using tags, but it is tricky - you have to create a hierarchy show only those articles that you wanted to use this extension for

Functionality

It is usable on J4, but there are several bugs. You can not filter categories prior to creating content (results in a 403), to name just one

Ease of use

Easy enough. But then, we migrated from J3. Not sure how it installs.

Support

Dead. No response in over two years - I reported bugs in 2022 but nothing happened, they never answered.

Exists. There is an installation and config guide. Go to installation-guide-cw-multicats

Value for money

Not worth your time or money. Too many bugs. Great idea but flawed ...

I used this to: Word Press like assignment of content to multiple categories. Since this does not work, we need to switch to using tags.

Functionality

Das Tool funktioniert soweit gut. Nur ist es etwas mühselig, alle einzelnen Sortierungen einzeln immer wieder einstellen zu müssen.

Ease of use

Die Installation ist etwas kompliziert. Aber einmal installiert, erklärt es sich von selbst und funktioniert.

Support

Leider habe ich aktuell schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht. Auch auf zwei Nachfragen wurde ich ignoriert.

Documentation

Ich empfinde die Dokumentation etwas umständlich. Sie sollte einfacher geschrieben werden.

Value for money

Der Preis ist okay für die Erweiterung. Ich würde jedoch auch nicht mehr bezahlen.

Functionality

App is not updated from previous version. In the downloaded package is only change of name in XML file. It is not working!!

Ease of use

I bought new version and looked inside, no changes, only name in XML file about update. This app damaged my website.

Support

Support doesn't work, I asked for refund, no answer from seller. I reported bugs in August 2022 but nothing happened, they never answered.

Documentation

no exists documentation on seller website. You can have only not working code.

Value for money

Not working app, so it is completely wasting your money and time. There is no refund policy, i think it's a crime.

I used this to: We used this app for 10 years till Joomla 3 it was perfect, but for Joomla 4 it is very bad decision.

Functionality

It just doesn't work. after installation, all links on the site throw error 500

I used a similar plugin for K2 that you set with a couple of clicks, which is not the case here.

Support does not respond, I waited 10 days and nothing. many questions on the forum have not been answered for 2 months

there is documentation for older versions. Joomla 4 alpha. Not available under J4 currently.

I used this to: I used a similar plugin for K2 on the travel agency website, which worked great. You can't solve everything with tags on the travel agency's website, you need a plugin like this.

Owner's reply: Hello, I am sorry for the troubles you are facing. The mentioned issue is caused by incompatible extension version with Joomla version. Release for extension version to the latest Joomla version is now available.

MISLEADING - only J4 beta doesn't work on J4.2.x BEWARE DUPLICATE CONTENT

Functionality

In beta for J4 & doesn't fully work. If you enable canonical URLs the site breaks. Disable canonical URLs results in duplicate content.

Ease of use

Fairly easy to use & configure but it's still in J4 Beta & doesn't work on J4. Not updated for 8 mths & version download is for J4.1.5

Support

This extension has not been updated & serious faults not fixed for at least 8 months. Doesn't work with J4 unless you want duplicate content

Value for money

Waste of money doesn't work on J4. Website details don't say J4 beta until AFTER you buy. How can I trust a dev that deliberately misleads?

I used this to: They state on their website & JED that it is compatible with J4, but after you purchase & go to download, you see it's still in Beta. Download version is 8 mths old & for J4.1.5. Enable Canonical URLs your site will break. Disable Canonical URLs you will get duplicate content.

I am sorry it took a long time of radio silence. I have checked the situation and the latest J4.1.x extension version is basically actually possible to install and operate on Joomla 4.2.x.
However, important news is that today was released Joomla 4.2.9 compatible reworked version and it is counted with ongoing support of compatible versions for Joomla updates.

Duplicite content issue for multicategorized articles in views from multiple categories has been fixed!

I am sorry for inconveniences during passed time.

Functionality

The plugin is sold as if it works with Joomla 4. After installation you will soon notice it works only with J4.1 and therefore is useless.

Ease of use

Couldn't be more difficult to use - No matter what you do, it won't work.

Support

Non-existent. Doesn't answer emails even though support is promised in the price.

Documentation

The documentation seems to be ok. But what does one need it for when the plugin doesn't work.

Value for money

No value, useless. Doesn't work. Dispute sent to Paypal, because developer doesn't reply.

I used this to: Well, I tried to use it for multi-categorization. Now I use it as a reminder of why 4.5-star ratings mean nothing on this platform.

Functionality

It was the best solution for multicategories. Then it stopped working and had no more development. From mid-late 2022 it only breaks sites

Ease of use

It was quite easy to use. The developer disappeared without telling anything to the community

Support

The developer (Pavel) just wanished from the support forum and stopped replying to support emails. The extension is still on sale though!!

Documentation

Never had that much documentation (for shortcodes for example) and you had to learn the hard way

Functionality

The extension is not compatible with Joomla 4.2.3, when used to create category listings it displayed each item multiple times.

Ease of use

The extension was very easy to use and would be a great extension if it worked properly.

Support

Unfortunately I did not receive adequate support. I had one reply asking me to test something then nothing thereafter.

Documentation

Documentation was okay. I was able to easily install and use the extension.

Value for money

I thought the cost was a little high considering you only got 6 months of updates.
