Authentication, Authentication bridges, Forum Bridges

No hacks to Joomla! or phpBB3 is required. Only four Joomla library files are auto-updated but the changes are safe and does not affect normal Joomla behavior.
Synchronization of login/logout in phpBB to Joomla and vice verse.
Synchronization of registration in phpBB to Joomla and vice verse.
Synchronization of user delete in phpBB to Joomla and vice verse.
Synchronization of user delete/activate/deactivate in phpBB ACP to Joomla.
Synchronization of changing profile data (email and password) in phpBB to Joomla including language setting.
Synchronization of Joomla usergroups and phpBB groups changes.
Synchronization of Joomla custom user fields and phpBB custom profile fields changes.
Silent account transfer from phpBB to Joomla after logging in phpBB (Joomla! user logs in phpBB and new phpBB account is created from Joomla user account) and vice-verse.
Auto-creation of new user in phpBB if new/existing Joomla user is saved.
Restore phpBB password from Joomla on successful Joomla login and vice-verse.
Ability to reload parent window once user logs in or out, this helps with refreshing of Joomla page if phpBB is loaded inside iframe wrapper.

Functionality

Phpbb light does everything advertised and does it well. It has only a couple of plugins and works great.

Ease of use

Simple to install the plugins and straightforward to set. Just set it to your phpbb folder from a dropdown that lists all folders in root.

Support

before the bridge could be installed we hired the developer to upgrade our forum many versions. fantastic, prompt, courtious support. A+++

Documentation

the documentation is good but we didn't really need it.

Value for money

The developer went way beyond the call of duty for us on other issues . Kudos to you guys! You Rock!

I used this to: We used this for joescnc.com to intigrate users from joescnc phpbb private forum with his public joomla website. as the members login to the forum they are added as registered users in joomla automagically.

Highly recommended if you need to sync users.

I must say this extension integrates Joomla! perfectly with PHPBB3.

It was easy to configure, very simple to use and the documentation and support is great.

I had some startup problems due to moving from localhost to live site after testing. I got instant reply on my support ticket wich is excellent support!

Rating: Excellent!

Don't Think About it! Just get this extension! It works!

If you are running Joomla 3.x and want to not only run phpbb3, but embed it into your site, then get this extension. Install Joomla, Install phpbb3, then install the bridge. Be sure to follow the included guide. It installed flawlessly for me. I had some confussion with multiple logins where it shows if you have the Who's on module active. I had some minor issue with setting the cookie settings in phpbb3 but Alterbrains has amazing support and will patiently work with you on getting it set up.

is a very good bridge. but it needs to fix the compatibility in frameless mode with the joomla templates

I must say.. I apologize to the developer(s) of p8pbb for my late response and review. It is long overdue and they have certainly been more prompt than myself.

1) The product that has been provided by these folks is extremely powerful, flexible, efficient and user friendly.

1a) There is no stone left unturned in this product.. seamless integration with a plethora of social platforms is a winning point in this service. Enough said.. not to mention... most documentation for any help is included and it is a simple and straight forward process.

2) What more does one want from such a great extension? Well, great service.. in fact.. even better service!

2a) I had a couple of problems that arose and these issues through the support system were quickly met and resolved. Response time was timely and friendly.

In the long run.. thanks guys! I appreciate your product and your friendly service. I would most certainly recommend this product to other developers and hobbyist alike. It's the ability to work for skill levels of varying ranks makes this an award winning purchase and worth every red cent. I am considering jumping into other features produced by these guys.. and will not hesitate when the time comes.

I'm so impressed by this extension that I created an account here just to give some credit to extension's authors... That bridge integrates phpbb3 so smoothly into Joomla and JomSocial that you may forget that your board is actually a different application. I have some experience with another bridges but this one gives me everything I need, including powerfull SEO tools, integration with JomSocial messaging system, custom fields synchronisation and lot more. Installation is very smooth (if you follow developer's instructions) and they provide awsome support. I would preffer to have their commercial version open source (I'm a PHP developer and I like to make some changes here and there) but that's not a big issue - they already provide us a lot of useful options and usually they're happy to implement some custom requirements and improvements

Hi,

if possible I would give 10 stars...5 for the product and 5 for the support.

Bridging joomla and phpbb is not the easiest job and there are lot solutions, but this one works best and has lot´s of useful features.

Using this and other products of the company for more than a year now and I am more than satisfied.

The support is as professional as one can imagine. The developer saved my... more than once...no matter if it was a dumbo mistake on my end or some probs with the server/3rd party components.

I will continue using this product and add/buy others from him because this guy knows what he is doing and is the money more than worth. As a matter of fact I would even pay more if he asks for :-)

A clear recommendation for everyone who uses Joomla and phpbb-forum.

I tried some bridges, but this one ist the best. It ist very easy to install, very cheap and the support is really great. Problems will be solved very fast and support is really friendly. It works well with JomSocial. Really great tool!
