Free version used to be excellent

Functionality
Features are removed from the 2.6 free version e.g. some buttons. Downgraded back to 2.5.31 to get them back. It's still a powerful editor.
Ease of use
Does all you want except some quick buttons that I use all the time have now been reduced to time-consuming drop-down boxes.
Support
Non-existent for the free version. You can read the forums but not post.
Documentation
Context sensitive help is good.
I used this to: General Joomla article editing. I was using 2.6 but downgraded back to 2.5.31 because the quick-access buttons (e.g. table row and column add and delete) were unavailable in the free 2.6 and I use them all the time.

Unwanted updates forced me to buy a new subscription

Very good and not the standard same info as the component which is annoying. This actually explains the settings not a list of them. Nice

Never had a major issue of any sort. Any minor issues always dealt with via support, no problems at all.
Documentation
I used this to: Used on every single Joomla install we do. It's the very best. Been using it since 2008!

Functionality
Has great and rich functionality and I love that they've put everything into one package now with the Pro version.
Ease of use
Very easy to use and though you have a lot of configuration options it's not necessary to learn all of those. It can be used out-of-the-box.
I used this to: Every website I make. It's easy for my customers to understand the editor.

JCE is the first component I always install

Editor for content as text and images in articles, modules and more
Ease of use
Really easy to use. Perfect user interface. Different profiles possible.
Support
The support via the forum of JCE is very quick. I have used it twice in the last 10 years.
Documentation
There is documentation, but is almost not necessary to use it.
I used this to: Every Joomla site I have build.
I have paid for the PRO version cause I think everybody should do that.
JCE should be in the core of Joomla

I used this to: This new free version was unusable for me!

Because I used previous no limited version for all of my sites for many years - I've bought payed version. I take it as a donation to the developer for using of old excellent no limited version for many years

Payed version is 100%

Used to be excellent, but now riddled with bugs from version 2.6.*.

Functionality
Initially added loads of functionality to the very basic Joomla editor. It just doesn't work well now.
Ease of use
Read the changelog and recent posts on the support forum. This will tell you all you need to know about ease of use.
Documentation
Out of date.
I used this to: JCE Editor (free) used to be a superb product- indispensable for editing Joomla articles. It provided editing functionality which really should be included in Joomla as standard. Lately, though, things have gone terribly wrong, and it is now riddled with bugs. Please fix!!!
