jDBexport allows you to deliver any data from your databases (JOOMLA and others) as Excel documents directly to your users. Write any valid SQL query in the administration of this component and combine such queries into multiple Excel worksheets/workbooks. Get help from ChatGPT to create your SQL query directly within the component. The query is executed when a user clicks the downloadlink (frontend or backend) and the current result of the query is delivered to the user as a downloadable Excel file (or any other of the below listed document formats). With the on-the-fly ajax-driven SQL syntax checker, the multitude of available export dataformats, formatting options and a great number of database drivers to get your data from, jDBexport is very likely the most exhaustive reporting instrument and data mining tool available on the market.

Main features

  • create data reports in various formats (xlsx, xls, ods, csv, html, pdf, json) from your databases
  • individualise these reports with variable substition (such as userid or current date) or parameters entered by the user
  • embed graphical charts (bar, pie, area, line, etc.) based on the requested data into your worksheets
  • format these reports with colors, fonts, backgrounds (also alternating backgrounds), images, headers and footers, borders and more
  • use a wide varity of conditions (including the result of SQL queries) for conditional formatting
  • add additional cells with text, images or results from additional SQL queries
  • define autofilter areas within your worksheets
  • add any additional files (e.g. Excel Makros in an *.xlmx file) along with your workbook when compressing is activated

  • define SQL based rules whether to run the scheduled task or not
  • or let the users request these reports online or in the background or through the GoogleDocViewer
  • or let the users preview these reports in a HTML preview within your website
  • or prepare these reports (without showing them) for post processing with individual programs
  • include virtually any accessible database - local or remote - into your reports (MySQL, MariaDB, MS-SQL, ORACLE, SQLite3, DB2, INGRES, SAP MaxDB, PostgreSQL, Firebird and others)
  • let AI help you with creating your SQL query with our integrated ChatGPT prompt
  • check the validity of your SQL query with our on-the-fly (AJAX-driven) SQL syntax checker, while preparing the worksheet
  • get inline help on creating your SQL queries, or reference the SQL manual that corresponds to your environment

Creates complex Excel sheets for my client
Ease of use
If you know your way around SQL, you can do almost anything with this extension.
Support
Excellent, in-depth support. Whatever the problem, Ruediger is determined to solve it.
Documentation
For some subjects, a little more explanation would be nice. But overall: very good documentation.
Value for money
Worth every penny.
I used this to: Creating large, complex, multi-sheet Excel spreadsheets containing and combining data from different tables in the database.

Used for getting data out of various Joomla products
Ease of use
You'll need a bit of SQL knowledge to get full use, but a keen amateur could probably find all the code they need on the web.
Support
Always there and willing to help when you need it.
Documentation
Fairly comprehensive, just a few gaps an maybe a few more examples would help.
Value for money
Excellent value

Functionality
There is no way to add a password-to-open to the spreadsheet. Ruediger offered to custom develop this, but I came up with a workaround.
Ease of use
Very clear to use - I barely needed the manual.
Support
Unusually outstanding support - A+. Ruediger responded immediately to a minor issue I had, and quickly developed a patch.
Documentation
Very good, although not really needed for most use cases once you understand the basics.
Value for money
Well worth the money
I used this to: jDBexport was a great way for our club to transition from an Excel based membership database to an online Community Builder database. We still have many workflows that require the spreadsheet, but now they can be automatically generated/maintained from the database.
Owner's reply: Carl, this is just to let you know:
PHP 7.2 (as of upcomming RC-2) seems finally capable of handling zip file passwords. We are investigating this (but it looks very promissing)...

Functionality
Brings everything it promises and more. Finally able to give an easy way for non-techies to get data-extractions from database!
Ease of use
Relatively easy to set up and once you get used to the system, really easy to use.
Support
First class. Had some issues and got always personal and timely support!
Documentation
Documentation in the web is easy to understand and covers all the bases. Perhaps a couple of more examples there would be ok but that's all.
Value for money
For this price this is a professional tool and absolute value for money!
I used this to: Allowing my "non-techies" to extract mailing-files for our organization for printing labels etc.

Exceptional component for extracting data from you Joomla database and presenting the information to our clients in Excel workbook form.
Ease of use
Extremely easy to use this component. You must have basic knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL). Easy to configure!
Support
The support for JDBExport is AWESOME! Worked with developer on a number of problems. He was very responsive and stayed on issue til fixed.
Documentation
Online documentation is available. I've used it a number of times. It is concise and to the point. I don't have to read mounds of content!
Value for money
This is a must have if you provide informational reports to your clients. Who doesn't use spreadsheets for analysis! Must have in toolbox!
I used this to: JDBExport is used as our general reporting tool. All of my clients use spreadsheets to analysis and provide listing to co-workers. It is used to generate workbooks that are used in updating our Microsoft Exchange distribution list via Powershell, and a multitude of other tasks!

Gets the job done! A straight-forward way to create excel exports and reports from your sites database.
Ease of use
Install, create a category, worksheet, and workbook, then hook it to a menu item and, presto, instant reporting.
Support
Outstanding support via the forum and from the developer.
Documentation
Extensive documentation is on the website. If you have a question though, just jump in the forum for help.
Value for money
I have used this component for years. It is a really great tool. It is part of my "default" setup for new Joomla sites.
I used this to: creating reports for my custom ordering component. Saves me a tonne of time since I don't have to write a reporting module for my component. Looking forward to creating scheduling for reports and automating administrative tasks for my site managers.
