What it does: add a menu item from the content you are already editing. Click Add to Menu on the toolbar, set title, alias, parent, status, and the options you need in one popup, save, and stay on the same article or content screen. No detour through Menus, no losing your place, no second tour of the backend for every publish.

Why this beats leaving it to core alone: Joomla has added pieces of save-to-menu behavior on some screens (for example certain category layouts in Joomla 6). That is still core’s menu UI on core’s terms, screen by screen. It does not give you the same in-editor popup on every supported edit context, and it does not replace configuring parent, access, language, template style, and layout before you commit the menu item, in one pass, from the record you are working on. If you publish articles or structured content often, opening Menus separately is wasted motion. RCA AddMenuItem removes that motion on purpose.

Why RCA’s rebuild is better than hoping the original vendor returns: the fork is maintained, documented, and shipped for Joomla 6 today, not archived 2022 code with a framework dependency. Improvements beyond make it boot on J4 include PSR-4 layout and native extension services; fixes for menu titles mangled by CMD filters, broken parent selectors, and language wildcard handling; child category contexts that failed on Joomla 6 AJAX; new menu items that inherit your site’s global com_content display settings instead of silently forcing create or modify dates from XML defaults; a lightweight admin modal that does not depend on Bootstrap Modal JS on every backend screen; and a shippable in-extension manual aligned with the retail build.
