Why MW Image Manager?

The default Joomla media manager lacks advanced image insertion options. JCE is a full editor replacement that many site builders already know. MW Image Manager brings the best of JCE's image management to the standard TinyMCE editor, without replacing TinyMCE itself. You get a familiar split-panel interface (attributes + preview on top, file browser on the bottom) while keeping TinyMCE as your editor.

Update Description (English)

What's new since 4.0.9

This update brings two major improvements: a completely new Modern UI layout and full internationalization of the entire interface.

New Modern Layout (4.1.0)

MW Image Manager now ships with two selectable layouts. The new Modern layout uses a browser-first design: a large file grid with bigger thumbnails takes center stage, while image settings are organized in a compact sidebar with collapsible accordion sections. The Classic layout (split-panel with attributes on top, file browser on the bottom) remains available. You can switch between both layouts in the plugin settings under "Layout Style" — the default is now Modern.

Both layouts offer identical functionality — all image editing, video embedding, folder management and insert options work the same way. The TinyMCE plugin auto-detects the selected layout and loads the matching UI automatically.

Key features of the Modern layout: inline file preview with file info panel, contextual action buttons in the sidebar, inline SVG icons with no external dependencies, and a responsive design that works well in smaller viewports.

Full Internationalization (4.2.0)

The entire UI is now fully translatable through Joomla's standard language system. All ~300 hardcoded German strings in both the Classic and Modern layouts have been replaced with translatable language keys. German and English translations are included — 194 UI label keys in each language file.

The UI language automatically follows the Joomla backend language setting with no manual configuration needed. Third-party translations can be added by creating a language file with the standard PLG_SYSTEM_IMAGEMANAGER_UI_* keys — all keys are documented in the existing .ini files.

The "Buy Premium License" button in plugin settings is now also translatable instead of hardcoded.

No breaking changes. Existing installations will continue to work without any configuration changes after the update.
